For the first few years we offered only the screen roof or the polycarbonate plastic roof. Most of our customers loved the screen roof because they could see through it to watch the clouds or the stars and Northern lights. Nobody liked the screen roof when it rained because it leaked.
Those who chose the polycarbonate roof loved it when it was raining because they stayed dry but where unhappy on the fine weather days because they couldn't see clearly through the plastic roof. The answer eventually came in the form of the 'Roll Top Roof'.
You'd expect something much more complicated considering the time it took to come up with the idea but it is simply a roll of awning material that sits on top of the screen room and rolls out with the help of a crank to where it can be lashed to the front wall of the screen room. The screen roof remains in place and is exposed when the awning is rolled back. The best of both worlds. A clear view when it's sunny and protection when it's raining. There are situations where the 'Roll Top Roof' can't be used, for example where the roof is too high or an odd shape, but when it works it works great.
